ABOUT US

Redding Crushing started more by accident, than by design. There was no marketing plan, just an idea born out of necessity.

Clive Redding was faced with a decision to either stay on the family farm or make his own way in life. The only other experience he had other than farming was crushing limestone, so he decided to give that a try.

Yorke Peninsula had always supported two small mobile crushing contractors, so Clive Redding started looking around for a small mobile crushing plant. None were available that were suitable, but his search introduced him to a small engineering business, run by Ron Woolford at Balhannah,  in the Adelaide hills. After some initial discussions, with Ron and a few chalk designs on the workshop floor, a complete, mobile, closed circuit crushing plant was built. The first section was completed in April, 1982 and the subsequent sections were completed later on that year.

Redding Crushing was initially set up to crush for farmers on their own farms, using their stone. The farmers used the various crushed stone grades for farm roads, sheep yards, the yards around their houses and sheds, mixing concrete and building shed bases. Another facet of the business has been crushing many derelict limestone homes on Yorke Peninsula.

As the business grew, Redding Crushing also provided other services in the way of fenceline clearing, dam cleaning, building farm shed bases, constructing farm roads, grading and any other earthmoving work that is required, predominantly on farms.

Today, our retail trade from the Depot at Mount Rat is  now our main service, offering different grades of crushed stone, sand and garden loam delivered anywhere on the Yorke Peninsula.

We still offer Onsite Crushing, Grader Hire, Loader and Tip Truck Hire.
